Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Who is eligible for the Youth Chorale?
The Youth Chorale is for students in grades 9-12. Because the goal of the Youth Chorale is to compliment (and not diminish) music education, it is a requirement that each singer maintains enrollment in a choral ensemble in which the singer is enrolled.
When and where are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are on the beutiful campus of St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. Rehearsals take place in the choir room from 6:30 until 8:30 on Sunday nights.
What is the time commitment for the Youth Chorale?
YCCM does everything it can to avoid activities not falling on a Sunday afternoon or evening. While an occassional dress rehearsal or performance may happen on a Friday or Saturday, nearly all events are on Sundays. We want to involve singers who are highly active in sports, music, arts, and in their communities.
Are auditions difficult?
No. The goal of auditions is to make sure singers are capable of singing the literature selected, and to make sure the ensemble does not get any larger than 70 singers. The audition takes place with the director and a panel of two others. The audition is simple, and no audition piece is required.
